Cover More Ground on Treasure Island

Thousands of people flock to Treasure Island every year to visit. Many plan their visits down to almost the last detail but forget one vital puzzle piece—getting around. But navigating this laid-back beach town can be a breeze with just a little planning ahead. Fortunately, there are some easy and inexpensive ways to get from A to B. Consider using one or more of these fun and headache-free ways to get around Treasure Island for that next quality vacation.

Ride-Share Ready

Despite its small size—only 5.4 square miles—visitors to Treasure Island can hail one of many rideshare services, such as Lyft or Uber. Several more traditional taxi services also help fun-seekers get around town. Using a rideshare service even in a small town has its perks. Not everyone is up to a day or even several days of walking, and trying to get home after several beverages is a lot safer in an Uber than on foot or behind the wheel of a rental car. With a rideshare service, you can tour Treasure Island in style.

Take the Trolley through Town

While riders can’t take it everywhere, the Suncoast Trolley is worth checking out. In fact, the Suncoast Trolley can take riders from downtown Clearwater to Treasure Island and beyond to St. Pete Beach. Riders can hop on the trolley for $2.25 per ride, or visitors can buy a GO Card for $5. The GO Card is good for unlimited rides for the day, so for visitors with an ambitious agenda, it’s a fabulous deal.

Free Beach Rides Are Really Free

Vacationers can hail a Free Beach Ride on Treasure Island. Shuttles arrive quickly and can take travelers to local spots. Drivers work for tips only—there is never a mandatory charge to ride. Friendly drivers safely help fun-seekers explore Treasure Island and surrounding areas such as Madeira Beach and Pass-a-Grille without breaking the bank. If people want to travel to a non-local area, Free Beach Ride offers a suggested gratuity for non-local trips. A free ride is just a phone call away!

Walk this Way in Treasure Island

Since Treasure Island is pretty small, many visitors choose to walk from one attraction to another. But walkers should keep a few things in mind to stay comfortable and safe. It’s essential to watch for cars and obey traffic signals—crossing mid-block or at night can be deadly. Stay safe by crossing at pedestrian walkways and wearing light and reflective clothing at night. Another issue to consider when walking around Treasure Island is footwear. It can be tempting to adopt the local preference of flip-flops, but these can do a number on the feet and make getting around the next day painful. Select a comfortable and supportive pair of shoes for rambling, and pack the flip-flops for the sandy beach.

Visitors to Treasure Island have a lot of fun choices packed into a small area. There are many ways to get around. Try more than one way to get the full experience, and see everything Treasure Island has to offer. There is truly something for everyone!
